Liquid Media Work

This post is a call for help and advice. I am working on a book project (with an intended manuscript deadline around Fall 2006) on the changing nature of media work. In the book, tentaively titled Liquid Media Work (inspired by Zygmunt Bauman's concept of liquid modernity) I plan to document 'what its like' to work in contemporary media industries, focusing in particular on journalism, advertising, public relations, marketing communications, new media (web/graphic/computer & video game content and design in particular), and to a lesser extent movie and television production.

In my experience, there is little research on this particular aspect, existing somewhere in the no man's land between media/communication studies and labor studies. So I am looking for contemporary resources: recent projects, reports, testimonials, (auto-)biographies, papers, books... anything that will offer insight into what it means to have/build/maintain a career in today's media industry, especially in the context of the developments I have written about on this blog: convergence culture, We Media, concurrent media exposure, professional participatory storytelling, media meshing, and so on...

Anyone with ideas and tips, please comment or send me an e-mail - I'd really appreciate it! I will use the blog to update progress and work on the book.

Thx Mark.

PS: some pointers are trade journals and university resources in various countries. I will post an overview of links and resources as they come in.
